Team Track Session
The
track 'highway code' is there for every rider's safety, you
must be aware there is
a code and abide by it at all times. The codes are simple and
common sense.
*
Use the changing rooms, please do not change in the track centre
*
Do not walk down the steps from the track in cycling shoes.
*
If it is your turn to rest, do not hang around the track
edge. Sit in the area provided.
*
A helmet must be worn at all times when on the bike even when
riding in the
track center.
*
Do not mount the bike until instructed to do so (if you are
using toe straps make
sure they are tight at all times)
.
* Do not ride on the 'D' areas as they have a painted
surface and are very slippery
*
Beware of the trip at the edge of the green. Always ride from
the track center onto
the green at a wide angle.
*
Listen and follow instructions, ask the coach if you are unsure.
*
Always look behind you before moving whether on the track, mounting
the track
or moving away from the fence - this is so important to remember.
*
Always ride ½ a lap or so on the green before mounting
the track
*
Always mount and dismount the track on the straights (home or
back) make sure
you look & see its safe to move
*
When on the track always look before you move out of your line
and check it is safe.
*
Don't ride too slowly on the track to start with, you will feel
you need to pedal a little
harder on the bankings until your skills develop
*
When riding in a 'line' try not to overlap the wheel in front,
if you do make sure
your wheel is on the outside of the wheel in front ( i.e. Above
rather than below then
you have got some where to go). When changing shout your intention
to do so
*
If you are riding 'steady' laps, always ride on the blue line
(stayers line) so people
doing other training can pass you on the inside or the outside
i.e. Above or below you
and they always know where you are.
All
common sense, you will pick it up quickly.
