Youth Training Day at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit

The Youth Training Day at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit proved to be another
successful event for Prime Coaching whose coaches give a lot of their time in encouraging youngsters to take up and stay in the sport of cycling.

During the session the youngsters were taught some road race and sprinting
skills. They were fortunate to have David Handley, ex National Coach, who
won six British National Sprint Championships and raced very successfully on
the Continent as a professional on the Grand Prix Circuit, who gave them sprint training sessions and a talk on ways of winning sprints and the importance of psychological tactics.

Riders had their bike positions assessed by the coaches and some adjustments were made to bikes to improve their riding positions where necessary.

Wilbur Santy, a member of the Willesden CC, who is a qualified sports masseur, gave an interesting talk on the benefits of massage and a demonstration massage.

Many of the riders came from the well established Slipstreamers Club for under 16's, which is run by Prime Coaching on Saturday mornings at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit.

Prime Coaching's Women's Training and Coaching Day at Hillingdon Circuit

Prime Coaching's Women's Training and Coaching Day held at Hillingdon Cycle
Circuit proved to be a great success with 27 taking part and looked after by
six B.C. qualified coaches.

"The riders were split into two groups, alternating working on skill
training on the circuit and attending lectures by Dr Auriel Forrester, Coach
and Sports Scientist. Topics covered by Auriel Forrester were:

Correct Bike Set-up, Principles of Fitness and Training, Women's Specific
Considerations, which involved a Question and Answer Session.

"Towards the end of the day, Nicola Hudson, Sports Masseuse, gave a talk
about the benefits of massage for racing cyclists.

"The results of a questionnaire filled in by the riders revealed that they
benefited both from the topics covered in the lectures and the riding skills
sessions, and that they would like Prime to run another Women's Training and
Coaching Day. Obviously the day filled a need."
